I am a searcher seeking what lies within;
A wanderer who wonders at the journey.
I am flesh and bone,
And grew and birthed two little miracles:
Flesh of my flesh, yet bones all their own.
I am a lover who wears a beautiful ring,
A worker who is finding my path back to meaning,
And I fight against the ease of defining myself merely by my roles.
I am a thinker needing to channel my thoughts,
A dreamer needing to remember my dreams,
And an artist trying to find my art.

Beautiful Laurel, gorgeous poetry and writing from a beautiful spirit xxxx Helena
Thank you my dear, and thank you for a wonderful day too. Gourmet picnicking – it’s the way of the future! xx
Laurel – well done. You have the art of not being irritating when you write. It is such a relief. You show a nice discernment. Have not been much in touch as it was a heavy funeral in Brighton on Thursday and my energy was drained. Another really early night should help. Love to you and thank for for your lovely writing.
Thank you. You have been in my thoughts a lot – it has been such a difficult month for you, and not the easiest birthday. Sending you love and hugs.
I don’t know you but feel like I do. Your words have captured my attention.
Your words and pictures have certainly captured mine too. Ah, well, the joy of finding each other is that we can now share and explore!
I read this again today, Laurel, and loved its lyrical honesty even more. The last line especially…”Yet for now, quite at home – for I am my home.” Hope you are doing ok.
Thank you! Some days I am doing okay, others less so… but ever onwards!
You have a beautiful blog, I’m glad I came across it. Thank you for sharing your heart, it is so meaningful to connect with those who understand.
Thank you – for finding me, for leaving your comment and a trail to follow, and your blog. It is indeed, so thank you for establishing that connection.
I’ve never read anyone writing a poem about themselves both so honestly and beautifully rhythmical than you. Amazing!
And now I am gladly clicking the ‘follow’ button to read your upcoming posts. Thank you for sharing and inspiring! 🙂
Warm regards,
Subhan
Just to say I’ve added you to my Blogroll, to remind myself to check for new posts. I love the way you write and think
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that. The feeling is mutual (I must get around to adding a blogroll some time soon), and I love the humour in your posts too, which always bring a smile to my face.
Nice to find you…
Nice to be found 🙂
Congratulations, I just nominated you for “One Lovely Blog Award”: kindly see the blog and accept the nomination.
A very belated thank you for this nomination – I’m sorry I wasn’t on my blog much at the time, having moved countries and not yet having internet access. But I always say ‘better late than never’, so thank you 🙂
I keep coming back here hoping your’ve written another post. Boo Hoo indeed. I really miss your gentle words
There you go. I was wandering around two of the Blogs you had “re Blogged” and saw you had popped up again. What a nice present. I hope you are settling in well in SA.
Ah Peter, always such a solid friend, through all my periods of silence and irregular communication. I remain as grateful as ever for your friendship x
Woow nice
Thanks 🙂
Hey there Laurel, what’s up? Just randomly tuned into your blog and I liked what I read so I gave you a follow. Come see what’s on my mind over at http://www.thatssojacob.wordpress.com, and if you like, join in the fun! Have a great day 🙂
Hey Jacob! I’m glad you stopped by a couple of years ago, and I enjoyed checking in with your blog then, and again tonight – and how exciting to find out you’re a dancer!
Heh 🙂 thanks!
A great ‘About page’ Laurel. It’s attention-catching. Bravo!
Thank you so much, Ngobesing. You seem to truly live what you write of – encouraging and inspiring the best in others 🙂 Really enjoying your blog.
Thanks for your beautiful compliment. It has made my day.
Ah, and what happiness it brings me know that 🙂 It was heartfelt indeed. Wishing you much joy x
Hey there Laurel! One of your Twitter posts led me to your blog, what a happy connection! I simply love your writing style, so gentle, and honest. Your blog is inspiring me to start my own, thank you! It was really great connecting briefly with you at our offices at PLAAS recently, I hope our paths will cross again, soon! Keep inspiring 🙂
Oh Ursula, thank you so much – a happy connection indeed! I’m so glad my writing connects with you, and I’m very excited to hear you are starting your own blog – please do let me know if you’d like any advice or support with that at any point, or just send me the link once you’re up and running! It was fortuitous to bump into you that day at PLAAS, and I’m sure we can between us ensure that our paths do indeed cross again soon, and for longer so we can catch up properly!
Hello Laurel! Thanks for responding and for your kind offer of assistance with a start-up blog, will surely tap your brains when I’m ready, hopefully soon!
Great!!!! Please do 🙂
Beautifully written, love the flow and feeling of the words, heart felt and gripping.
So descriptive about who you are and where you want to go.
